Monday Feb 14: 2011 NAPLAN Sample Prompt

1.  Books are better than T.V. I am with the negative that T.V. is much better than books because, T.V. is much easier to update T.V., T.V. is much more social, now you can get portable T.V. and books use paper which comes from trees which is destroying our environment.

T.V. is much easier to update because when something happens you can watch it on the news that night but with books or newspapers you have to wait one day to read about it and get the information you need. If they discover something that changes something else definition or application then people have to buy the new book which wastes money and time while T.V. only has to do a quick rerun and add in, edit or change the program to fit what is needed in to the show for viewing.

T.V. is social because you and your friends can go and whatch a movie in the theatures or come over and watch the show instead of everyone reading the book seperatly they can watch the T.V. together expanding relationships but also talking during the ads and if you must during the show.

Portable T.V.s like Ipods or MP3's can hold 20 movies with room to spare while a book can only hold one. A Ipod or MP3 can fit in your pocket but a book cannot and if you have what you have on your Ipod or MP3 on/in a book it would be absolutely huge and would be hard to carry and read. And if you must you can get all the books you want on a portable T.V. like a Ipad or Kindle which can hold hundreds of books on something that weighs about half a Kilo but if all those books where in paper back format then it would be extremely heavy and you would have to lug allot everywhere. If you are like me and read really really fast and tend to read books i a matter of hours not days then when you go over seas and you want to take a couple of books on the trip you will finish then and maybe buy more and your suitcase would be bigger and heavier meaning more space is taken up by books but if you have it on a Kindle or Ipad then you can have hundreds of books in an easy to use easy to read and easy to store but if you had that in books then it would be harder to carry harder to lift and harder to fit in a suitcase with all your clothes. My opposition will say that they will run out of juice and you will need to charge them but if a book runs out of pages then what? plug it in and charge it? No. Buy a new book? No, you still have the old one to lug around and a book reader or portable T.V. is much lighter than a book and you can put it in your pocket and charge it when you get home but a book is kinda hard to put in your pocket if it is a thick heavy one but if it is light it will be read in a matter of minutes so you will carry around allot more of them.

If you make one hundred books many trees will be cut down and I know my opposition will say T.V. runs off power which runs off fossil fuels but if you use a wind farm or solar energy array or Hydrogen to power your generators and you T.V. you will have 0% damage 0 impact and 0 damage to the environment while a book still uses Paper which uses trees and to cut down those trees you need machines which for the most part run off petrol which is damaging to the environment.

And that is my reasons why T.V. IS better than books because T.V. is portable, less damaging to the environment, more social and easier to update.
I hope you make the right decision when you are about to buy a book BUY A T.V for the reasons stated above!
