IAGO

It is merely a lust of the blood and a permission of
the will. Come, be a man. Drown thyself! drown
cats and blind puppies. I have professed me thy
friend and I confess me knit to thy deserving with
cables of perdurable toughness; I could never
better stead thee than now. Put money in thy
purse
; follow thou the wars; defeat thy favour with
an usurped beard; I say, put money in thy purse. It
cannot be that Desdemona should long continue her
love to the Moor,-- put money in thy purse,--nor he
his to her
: it was a violent commencement, and thou
shalt see an answerable sequestration:--put but
money in thy purse
. These Moors are changeable in
their wills: fill thy purse with money:--the food
that to him now is as luscious as locusts, shall be
to him shortly as bitter as coloquintida. She must
change for youth: when she is sated with his body,
she will find the error of her choice: she must
have change, she must: therefore put money in thy
purse
. If thou wilt needs damn thyself, do it a
more delicate way than drowning (extended metaphor as well)Make all the money
thou canst: if sanctimony and a frail vow betwixt
an erring barbarian and a supersubtle Venetian not
too hard for my wits and all the tribe of hell, thou
shalt enjoy her; therefore make money. A pox of
drowning thyself! it is clean out of the way: seek
thou rather to be hanged in compassing thy joy than
to be drowned and go without her.

KING HARRY:
Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more,
Or close the wall up with our English dead.
In peace there's nothing so becomes a man
As modest stillness and humility,
But when the blast of war blows in our ears,
Then imitate the action of the tiger.
Stiffen the sinews, summon up the blood,
Disguise fair nature with hard-favoured rage.
Then lend the eye a terrible aspect,
Let pry through the portage of the head
Like the brass cannon, let the brow o'erwhelm it
As fearfully as doth a galled rock
O'erhang and jutty his confounded base,
Swilled with the wild and wasteful ocean.
Now set the teeth and stretch the nostril wide,
Hold hard the breath, and bend up every spirit
To his full height. On, on, you noblest English,
Whose blood is fet from fathers of war-proof,
Fathers that like so many Alexanders
Have in these parts from morn till even fought
And sheathed their swords for lack of argument.
Dishonour not your mothers; now attest
That those whom you called fathers did beget you.
Be copy now to men of grosser blood,
And teach them how to war. And you, good yeomen,
Whose limbs were made in England, show us here
The mettle of your pasture; let us swear
That you are worth your breeding- which I doubt not,
For there is none of you so mean and base
That hath not noble lustre in your eyes.
I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips,
Straining upon the start. The game's afoot.
Follow your spirit, and upon this charge
Cry 'God for Harry, England, and Saint George!'
By William Shakespeare.

Drafting Speech After Harry's advice (2)

Euthanasia, right or wrong? A young kid is walking down the street and then a car hits him. Is he dead? No, he is alive. Is it a blessing or a curse that he is alive? He has broken all his bones in his hands leg and faces and they he will never recover so he will never be able to walk, never able to speak never able to do anything. So he cannot walk he cannot talk he cannot eat he cannot touch so why should he live? In hope of surviving or finding a cure? Are somethings worse than death? yes a living death where all you can do is look at things and not participate. Would you like this? would you want to live through this? I know I wouldn't. what then what you would do? Would you want to live like this? Wouldn't you wanted to be released from that torture! I know I would rather go to the void rather than live a life of hell.

People do we put down animals? Is it euthanasia? Is it murder? According to you it is but we do it without question to save the animals from days or years of pain and suffering so isn't saving people from suffering right? Wouldn't people who are so crippled they cannot do anything want to stop their suffering? I know I would. I know that I would rather pass on than suffer pain. Things are worse than pain some of those things are; Living in constant pain, never being able to do anything or say anything. If those happens I know I would rather finish my time here. Wouldn't you? wouldn't you want to stop the suffering and stop the pain and the devoid of life. These people who can do things are basically living husks because they live off machines. If you believe in god you will say it is wrong, but when they were on the brink of death the only thing keeping them alive is human technology not your god he/she/they wanted him/her to finish their life they tried to kill them but we kept them alive and we are pushing them through the pain and torture of living in constant pain. Your god/s wanted them to come to them and we are denying them of dying and going to your god/s.

So when you think of euthanasia don't think of it as murder think of it as release release from the pain release from the suffering. If euthanasia is allowed than people who are in pain and suffering every day but cannot stop it because they are so crippled or paralyzed that they cannot move talk and can only think, why not let them go to the void? why not let them pass on? why not let them end the suffering and end the pain! Why not let them Finish their time on Earth and in time and space.? So the only way to save these people from constant pain and suffering every day is to let them pass away and the only way to do that is to let euthanasia be allowed and not be thought of as murder!

Harry's Comments

·                     Did the introduction capture you?
The introduction describes your point but I believe that starting with rhetorical questions may not be a strong way to start your persuasive speech.
·                     Is there enough information to convince you of their opinion?
The information touched on a large amount of information but in my opinion it does not go in-depth to the reasons why people believe in those ideas about euthanasia.
·                     Is their opinion clearly organised?
In you introduction it states that if it is your choice but in the rest of your speech it says it is another person’s choice to end their suffering.
·                     What suggestions would you make to improve the speech?
To try to organise your speech a little bit better because it will make your argument a lot better and using a better anecdote and  more emotion.

Assessment task 3 Paragraphs

NO GOOD!!!!!!!
1.
Terrorists should not be bargained with or we should not have diplomatic relations with them because they would rather blow themselves up rather then talk to us or even have anything to do with us. Terrorists will never give up and never surrender because they believe in their god Allah (which is the same as the Christian god) and their teachers teach them wrong which makes them evil and malevolent people whose only intentions are to kill main and slaughter. So we should have nothing to do with them other than destroy them and wipe them off the face of the earth.

2.
Equality is a major ideal not a reality because there have been many examples of places where they wanted equality these places where the communist places and these all collapsed because of human nature, to be greedy so when people want to be equal someone will want more than someone else. If there are 2 people one person will want to rule someone else so when people want to be equal it will fail and then the equality will crumble.
3.
reality television is complete and utter trash because who needs more drama in their lives so why should anyone want or even need to watch it. Reality television in a whole is a hoax, most of them are fixed, so why should people watch it. all of these shows are just ohh booo hoo get over it! so why should people watch this trash and rubbish which if they didn't watch would make no difference to their lives!

SPEAKING ASSESSMENT TASK

Weighting: 15%
Nature of Task
Persuasive texts are designed to position a point of view (Point of view). Texts that successfully persuade are usually highly emotive (emotional words + influence listener/audience) and effectively balance opinions with facts (research. Persuasive texts can make sweeping generalisations (uninformed conclusions Farcing), rely on stereotypes and hyperbole and yet still seem credible. This is because a combination of objective and subjective information is usually used to persuade. Careful use of repetition and high modality words can emphatically convey the composer’s purpose if it is counterbalanced with the use of statistics, expert evidence and product/idea endorsement from authoritative sources. Moreover, effective incorporation of anecdotes, analogies and inclusive language can personalise the message and help connect the composer and their text with its audience.

2. Watch the Obama Speech from about 8min in and read the transcript. What techniques does Obama use that MLK use? Obama uses lots and lots of repetition, at the end he says that this will happen all around U.S.A

But the reason our campaign has always been different, the reason we began this improbable journey almost a year ago is because it's not just about what I will do as president. It is also about what you, the people who love this country, the citizens of the United States of America, can do to change it.
That's what this election is all about.
That's why tonight belongs to you. It belongs to the organizers, and the volunteers, and the staff who believed in this journey and rallied so many others to join the cause.
We know the battle ahead will be long. But always remember that, no matter what obstacles stand in our way, nothing can stand in the way of the power of millions of voices calling for change.
We have been told we cannot do this by a chorus of cynics. And they will only grow louder and more dissonant in the weeks and months to come.
We've been asked to pause for a reality check. We've been warned against offering the people of this nation false hope. But in the unlikely story that is America, there has never been anything false about hope.
(APPLAUSE)
For when we have faced down impossible odds, when we've been told we're not ready or that we shouldn't try or that we can't, generations of Americans have responded with a simple creed that sums up the spirit of a people: Yes, we can. Yes, we can. Yes, we can.
It was a creed written into the founding documents that declared the destiny of a nation: Yes, we can.
It was whispered by slaves and abolitionists as they blazed a trail towards freedom through the darkest of nights: Yes, we can.
It was sung by immigrants as they struck out from distant shores and pioneers who pushed westward against an unforgiving wilderness: Yes, we can.
It was the call of workers who organized, women who reached for the ballot, a president who chose the moon as our new frontier, and a king who took us to the mountaintop and pointed the way to the promised land: Yes, we can, to justice and equality.
Yes, we can, to opportunity and prosperity. Yes, we can heal this nation. Yes, we can repair this world. Yes, we can.
And so, tomorrow, as we take the campaign south and west, as we learn that the struggles of the textile workers in Spartanburg are not so different than the plight of the dishwasher in Las Vegas, that the hopes of the little girl who goes to the crumbling school in Dillon are the same as the dreams of the boy who learns on the streets of L.A., we will remember that there is something happening in America, that we are not as divided as our politics suggest, that we are one people, we are one nation.
And, together, we will begin the next great chapter in the American story, with three words that will ring from coast to coast, from sea to shining sea: Yes, we can.
Thank you, New Hampshire. Thank you. Thank you.

Monday 28/2: MLK's "I Have a Dream"

I think it is wrong that the models for the NY fashion week are paid so much and they don't give much of that to charity so while they get all the glitz and glamor people in NZ after the quake are stuck, people in Libya who are trying to flee the violent country get nothing, the people of Queensland after the floods and the cyclone are still stuck they still don't have proper amounts of food while these pampered princess who for a JOB are sexy and walk up and down a cat walk. Because of these paper thin models girls are trying to get that skinny but cannot achieve it because they go excessive and always think that they are fat and ugly which has a serious impact on their lives and their mental and physical health. These people have millions of dollars but they still don't give much to charity and while these people are earning money for walking up and down a catwalk for 5 Minutes and they get paid in the Millions per year. These people who HAD jobs they had homes and they had lives but now they have nothing their homes are destroyed their jobs are wreaked their families are dead/missing or critically injured and yet these models have everything and all they do is walk up and down a catwalk up and down a cat walk while people are stuck with nothing. can this be happening? can we leave people to die in the darkness? can we let people make millions for walking? walking is good but beign paid for it? can this stand in this day and age? I thought that this was a loving society? And in Conclusion because these highly paid Models who all they have as a job is walking up and down a cat walk for millions of dollars I think it is wrong
